All-conquering Hemel Athletic U12 Blue completed a fantastic hat-trick on Sunday as they won the County Cup final for the third consecutive year.

Credit must go to all 13 players for a superb performance, not just in the final but throughout the season – and to manager Allan Arthur and coach Stuart Bailey.

Their opponents, Welwyn Pegasus Royals, scored early on in the final but Athletic responded quickly to make it 1-1 with a goal from Ben Wooton, before two further efforts from Lewis Collins made the score 3-1 at half time.

Welwyn scored a second goal shortly after the interval, but again Athletic responded with a fourth goal scored by Lewis Swindells as the Blues ran out 4-2 winners.

After the match, an understandably delighted manager Arthur said: “ I am very proud of the boys, who have all worked hard and played well all season.

“This is a remarkable achievement for the boys at such an early stage in their careers.”

In addition to Wooton, Collins and Swindells, the Athletic team was made up of Louie Arthur, Sean Cross, James Glyn, Lewis Brown, Connor Goodliffe, Finley Sykes, Tyreeq White, Ellis North, Scott Smith and Joe Kraftchenko.

Thanks also go to club secretary Tony Collins for being chauffeur for the day, as well as to all the parents, friends and family members who turned out to support the team in the final and throughout the course of the season.
