Brennan keen to clip the Canaries
Hemel Town boss Dean Brennan says he will be doing everything he can to get one over former team Hitchin Town on Saturday.
Brennan made 47 appearances for Hitchin in the 2002/03 season, scoring 20 goals, before moving on to Stevenage Borough the following year.
Brennan is adamant that his Hemel side will bounce back quickly from their 3-2 defeat at Bideford on Saturday, and said: “I’m really looking forward to facing one of my old clubs and it gives the game that added bit of spice.”
The Tudors currently sit in pole position in the Evo-Stik League Southern Premier Division, three points clear of second-placed Leamington who have five games in hand.
Cambridge City are a further two points back in third.
Despite his side’s impressive start to the season, however, Brennan isn’t getting carried away with things just yet.
“It’s definitely not just a two-horse race between us and Leamington,” he said. “I always said that there are going to be eight teams challenging for the title and I still think that is the case.
“We are just going for our points target, and not focussing on anyone else.”
Hitchin are currently struggling in the league, languishing second from bottom, and the Tudor faithful will be confident that their club can return to winning ways at Vauxhall Road on Saturday.
