Tring Athletic 2 Hillingdon Borough 0
Tring Athletic captain Graham Hall celebrated his 200th club appearance with his 51st goal to set them on their way to victory against Hillingdon Borough.
Vice-captain Chris Salmon added a second Tring goal shortly before half-time, and the hosts battled well in the second half to preserve their lead and take the three points.
After a slow start, Athletic began to work the ball around nicely and it paid dividends on the half hour mark when Salmon flicked on a corner to Hall to smash the ball home from close range to open the scoring.
Connor Waite hit the post shortly afterwards and Vinnie Iannone headed over, before Athletic doubled their lead a minute before half-time.
This time Hall was the provider, sending over a superb curling cross to the far post where Salmon rose to thump a header home.
Boro looked for a way back into the game but, inspired by their impressive back-four, Tring held firm and Waite produced a good save from the Boro keeper before Iannone smacked the rebound against the bar.
Both sides had further chances as the game reached its conclusion, but there were no further goals and Tring bagged the points.
