Competition has a silver lining for cadets
Army Cadets from 3 Company Beds and Herts ACF took home silver medals after finishing second in an inter company boys’ six-a-side football competition.
The Beds and Herts inter company tournament attracted cadets from across the two counties, resulting in a high standard of competition at the Putteridge Leisure Centre in Luton.
The 3 Company team, made up of cadets from the Berkhamsted, Harpenden, Hemel Hempstead and Watford detachments, put up a good fight in all the rounds.
The finals in both the Senior and Junior groups ended 0-0 and had to be decided by penalties.
Team captain, Berkhamsted cadet staff sergeant Joe Rochford, said: “We worked hard and played well – it was a very close thing with both finals ending 1-0 on penalties.
“We all wish the cadets from 4 Company luck in the regional finals in February, and hope they bring the cup home for county.”
Sport is an important part of the Army Cadet Force training syllabus, which aims to provide fun and challenges for the citizens of tomorrow.
