FOOTBALL: Berkhamsted got back to winning ways with a 5-1 friendly victory over Old Bradwell United.
Tony Burnett bagged a second half hat-trick, after Berko’s Simon Carmichael had netted at both ends before the interval.
The Comrades’ convincing win was wrapped up by Josh Chamberlain, who kept his composure from the penalty spot after a foul on Adam Balletta.
The visitors had taken the lead courtesy of a spectacular headed own goal from Carmichael, but the centre-half soon made amends by bundling the ball home from a Jordan Toomey corner to equalise.
Berko boss Mick Vipond introduced Burnett from the bench at half time, and the forward made a big impact with three well-taken efforts.
First, Burnett placed the ball past Jordan Clarke, before heading over the advancing keeper to double his tally.
He completed his treble with a fine curled effort into the top corner after Mark Welling’s shot was half cleared.
And, after Balletta was pulled down in the area, Chamberlain sent Clarke the wrong way from the spot to complete the rout.
Next up for Berko is a clash with Wingate and Finchley at Broadwater tomorrow.
