A battle between two of the MSSML Premier Division’s FA Cup survivors ended all square on Tuesday night – but Berko will be disappointed that they did not take all three points.

Berko fielded a strong starting XI, with Carl Tasker returning in goal and youngster Connor Toomey given his first start for the clubs.

After a fiesty opening to the game, Berko opened the scoring in the 38th minute as Lawrence Bunker kept his cool from the penalty spot to slot home.

Before the interval Dale Sears and Josh Chamberlain were shown yellow cards, along with Harefield skipper Dave Tilbury, and the latter was given his marching orders early in the second half after another foul.

Berko failed to make the extra man pay, however, and conceded a soft penalty which Ryan Egan converted.

Bunker regained the Comrades’ lead with 10 minutes left to play, but United had the last laugh when substitute Kemo Maphela fired home to earn a point for his side.
