Hemel Comets Dolphins U18 have finally broken their County Cup curse after triumphing in the final at the third attempt.
It was third time lucky for the Comets who overcame Croxley Youth 2-1 to win the trophy, having previously lost two finals as well as three semi-finals.
A goal from Casey O’Gorman and a stunning winner from Jacob Trigg gave the Watford Friendly League side victory, but it was keeper Jonny Pitts who was named man of the match after pulling off two superb late saves.
Dolphins manager Trevor Acors said: “This was another great day for the players and much thanks is due to the Herts FA.
“It is a relief to finally win; I always believed that this was our year. This team is very special and most have been with us for more than ten years.”
