West Herts League
THE Herts Junior Cup brought a mixed bag of results for the Dacorum sides.
The surprise of the day was at SWR Doors, where last year’s finalists were dumped out of the competition after a 3-1 defeat to Long Marston. Jeff Mensah scored Doors’ consolation goal.
Tring Athletic A, however, went through to the third round of the tournament courtesy of a 3-2 win at Oracle FC. Glen Sizer, Ean Reid and Steve Wood did the damage for Tring.
The Athletic B squad, however, crashed out with a 5-0 loss to AFC Storm.
Kings Sports had an easy passage through, beating Tansley 5-0 with goals from Brandon Murtagh (2), Ben Alexander, Michael Okoro and Robin Potton, but Hemel Sharpshooters were thrashed 7-0 by Watton-at-Stone
Gadebridge FC also failed to progress after being beaten 3-2 by Northolt FC despite a Jack Watts double.
Hemel Rovers, meanwhile, are safely through to the next round after beating County Hall Rangers 4-2.
Paul Hanafan notched a double, with Jamal Babb and Dean Smith adding their names to the scoresheet.
Elsewhere, Bovingdon were dumped out of the West Herts Senior Cup after losing 3-0 at home to Harpenden Rovers.
In the league, Division Three’s Potten End lost 3-2 to Langleybury, while Hemel Rovers A lost 4-2 to Oxhey Reserves. Kurt Weston and Sean Palmer got the goals for Hemel.
