Double delight for Tornadoes and Comets

A nail-biting finish saw a youth football team clinch a league title at the very end of their last game of the season.

Tornado JSC were trailing 2-1 against Bovingdon with three minutes left in the final match of their West Herts U14 campaign.

But hero Luke Teakle netted his second of the match to pull his team level – a draw enough for them to win the league.

Bovingdon had gone ahead after three minutes and went 2-0 up in the second half after a red card reduced Tornado to 10 men.

A reshuffle by Tornado was followed by Teakle's first however, followed by the crucial leveller.

The league victory came after the winning team achieved cup glory – making them double winners in 2008/9.

Tension was also high for Comets Blue U11 in their Division One playoff against Garston Boys.

In high heat, and on a full-size pitch, the side triumphed 3-1 to become champions – their win also followed victory in a challenge cup.

The Comets goals came from Connaugh Keegan (2) and Aaron Hebborn.
