Sherrardswood Ladies 1 Leverstock Green Ladies 5
LEVERSTOCK Green Ladies stormed to an emphatic away win at Sherrardswood in the first round of the Herts County Cup.
Green took the lead through midfielder Vikki Buckley, who found herself in the right place at the right time to open the scoring.
Levy should have extended their lead in the first half and had several chances to do so but were unable to fire home.
Despite Levy’s dominant football, Sherrardswood did not give up hope of salvaging something from the game and were back in the tie on the brink of half time when a well placed shot found its way just inside the keeper’s post.
In the second half Levy upped their game, with Buckley adding another, Nic Hollick grabbing a brace and Tammy Bevil adding her name to the scoresheet to complete the rout.
The Levy ladies will now travel to Welwyn Garden Ladies for the next round of the competition in November.
The cup victory comes as a welcome distraction for the Green side who have been struggling for form in the league so far this season.
They sit second from bottom in the Eastern Region Women’s Football League Division One South after six games, having picked up just one win so far.
