The friends and family of a sports-mad dad who passed away earlier this year are organising an action-packed football fun day in his honour.

Marc Cole, 44, sadly passed away on February 11 as a result of a lack of oxygen to the brain after suffering a cardiac arrest nine days earlier.

Marc was a gym regular, as well as an enthusiastic golfer, a big Super Bikes fan and a long-serving Sunday league footballer in the BSFL.

Marc was born in Luton and, along with the rest of his family, lived and grew up in Hemel from the early 70s.

Due to work commitments, he moved away in the early 2000s, however he continued to work for Martin Brower and regularly visited the offices and distribution centre in Hemel.

Marc leaves two children; Ashton, 21, and 19-year-old Callum – both university graduates from this year – and three step-children, Hayley Brown, Danielle Brown and Mike Brown.

To celebrate his life, Marc’s brother Paul has helped to organis the Marc Cole Shooters FC Charity Match which will take place on Sunday, August 10 at Leverstock Green FC’s Pancake Lane ground.

Paul said: “As result of losing Marc at such a young age, we wanted to do something to keep his memory alive and give people the opportunity to come and celebrate his life with us whilst raising money for two charities.

“These are The British Heart Foundation, whose continuous work is aiding people recover from heart conditions daily, and The Liverpool FC Foundation – both Marc and myself are lifelong fans of the club.”

The day will feature a match between a Marc Cole Shooters FC 11 and a Martin Brower 11, kicking-off at 2.30pm.

Entertainment on the day runs from 12.30pm to 9.30pm and includes a children’s entertainer, a bouncy castle, cake and biscuit decorating, face painting, an owl handler, a licenced bar and various other refreshments.

In the evening there will be a raffle, as well as an auction of football items including a Wembley Stadium Tour and an Anfield Stadium Tour.
