Berkhamsted Footgolf sensation Ben Clarke will battle it out on the world stage this week as he competes in the Footgolf World Cup 2016 at Pilar Golf Club in Buenos Aires, Argentina.

There will be an individual and team event held across the week, with Clarke full of confidence going into the tournament following a three-shot victory at the European FootGolf Trophy Tour Grand Final in Turkey at the end of last year to make it three wins on the spin.

Clarke, 23, was triumphant in Turkey following victories in Croatia and Hungary – there was no stopping the sharp-shooter as he completed an historic hat-trick of wins.

The Turkish event brought a close to the 2015 season, with Clarke finishing the campaign ranked second in both the UK and Europe – with the World Cup handing him a realistic chance of world glory.

Speaking before flying out to Argentina, Clarke told the Gazette: “Myself and Team UK will be going in to this with confidence; we were crowned European champions in 2015 so we are hoping to carry that form in to January on the world stage.

“After a successful year, I’m hoping to carry on from where I left off – there’s no doubt 2016 will be an exciting year for myself and FootGolf.”

Clarke is an ambassador for the FootGolf partner charity Balls To Cancer and has also appeared on TV playing the sport - including programmes on Sky Sports and Japan’s biggest channel NHK.
