Watford Ladies moved up to fourth in WSL2 after a 2-1 win in an entertaining game at Oxford United.

Stacie Donnelly opened the scoring in her first start for the club and Jo Wilson doubled the lead in first half stoppage time.

Oxford got a goal back early in the second half through Laura Low, but Watford held on for a crucial three points.

Watford manager John Salomon said: “First half I thought we were fantastic. We created a lot of opportunities and, credit to the girls, we came in 2-0 up and it could’ve been more.

“Second half, we had to weather a couple of storms from set pieces. We had to be professional, see the game out and get the win which we did.

“We’ve got good young players in the system and for them to step up to Super League level and get a win today is fantastic, they played their part.”
