Leverstock Green 1 Hatfield Town 2
Leverstock Green could not continue their winning start to their league season as they fell to a home defeat to Hatfield Town.
Adam Hallisey made it three goals in his last three games, but his strike was not enough to prevent Levy from slipping to the loss.
Hatfield came into the match on the back of a 6-1 defeat in their opening game, but they started well and created a number of good early opportunities.
Leverstock, on the other hand, were slow to find their rythm, and Hatfield took the lead after 19 minutes. Sam Bantick ran through the middle of the Green defence and laid the ball off to Daryl Smith, whose shot went in off the post.
Adam Hallissey hit a shot just wide in the 24th minute and Kriss Tyrell hit the post with a shot two minutes later as Levy tried to force their way back into the game.
And Steve Benitez’s side got back on level terms in the 38th minute. Lewis Rolfe’s cross was not cleared, and Hallissey stabbed the ball home from close range.
It was Hatfield who enjoyed the better of the second half, though, and the decisive goal arrived in the 62nd minute. An outswinging corner found Taylor Sussex, who got up near the edge of the penalty area to head powerfully home into the corner of the net.
Levy battled for a second equaliser, but Hatfield held firm to bag the three points.
