The Hemel Hempstead School first XI have reached the quarter-finals of the English Schools FA National Cup.

They played Mount Grace from Potters Bar today and won 2-0 with goals from Haydn Cassidy and Stephen Andric.

The game had originally been postponed last week due to a waterlogged pitch, and was moved to the Astroturf at Herts University to ensure it could be played today.

This equals the furthest that the school has ever gone in the competition, having lost in the quarter-finals in the same age group in 2008.

Hemel Hempstead School now play Bradfield College from Newbury in the quarter-finals at home on Friday afternoon.

The team has also reached the County Cup quarter-finals, in which they play Leventhorpe School at home on Monday afternoon.
