Berkhamsted 5 London Tigers 1
A Frankie Jowle hat-trick helped Berko to their biggest win of the season against relegation-threatened London Tigers on Saturday.
With the scores tied at 1-1 at half-time following Jowle’s opener, Berko turned on the style after the break to wrap up the win.
“I was pleased with our second half display, not so much with the first,” said Berko boss Mick Vipond.
“We started a bit slowly and at half-time we just needed to remind the lads about having a bit of personality and desire.
“They went out and did it in the second half, but they need to do that themselves.
“They are a really nice group of lads who get on really well, so they should be able to be strong with each other and push each other on.”
The Comrades were missing a number of players through injury and suspension, but Jowle gave them the lead in the 16th minute.
Emmanuel Njodzcka equalised for the visitors in the 37th minute, but two goals in the first 10 minutes of the second half killed off the Tigers’ challenge.
First, Jowle converted from the penalty spot following a foul on Josh Chamberlain, before Myles Stephenson tapped home for 3-1.
Jamie Gavin scored from close range to make it 4-1, before Jowle completed his hat-trick with a late penalty to wrap up the win.
The victory leaves Berko in 11th place in the MSSML Premier Division table, one point behind 10th-placed Tring Athletic.
