Honours even in battling draw for Tring Corinthians

Tring Corinthians took a well deserved point from in-form Broxbourne Borough in at entertaining encounter on Saturday.

After starting the game brightly, the hosts took the lead on 37 minutes as the impressive James Smith unleashed a fierce shot into the back of the net.

It was a different Corinthians that emerged after the internal and they bagged their deserved equaliser from a set-piece that was bundled home by Terry Phillips with 10 minutes to play.

The visitors continued to push for a winner, and it nearly arrived when Mick Swaysland was thwarted by a stunning save from the Broxbourne keeper late on.

Corinthians manager Simon Lacey said: “A draw was probably the right result – Borough had the best of the first half and we had the best of the second.

“I’m disappointed we didn’t start playing until after the break, we need to learn from that.”
