Kings pay penalty in Centenery Trophy

Kings Langley 1

Holders Kings Langley crashed out of the Herts Senior Centenary Trophy, with the game turning on a contentious penalty decision.

Without skipper Luke Ladyman and top marksman Jimmy Armstrong, Codicote were always going to provide a tough test for Kings, and Craig Arnott fired them ahead after ten minutes.

Sam Warrell saw a goal disallowed but, soon after, Tom Carter fired home an equaliser.

Until the hour mark, Kings looked the more likely to progress, until Ant Ladyman pulled off a superb double save – the second of which was at the feet of Arnott, who fell over the keeper.

To Kings’ dismay, a penalty was awarded and dispatched by Arnott, before Ricky Bridge dealt the killer blow five minutes later.
