TEENAGE substitute Shaun Owens hit a late winner to give Kings a somewhat fortunate three points against a plucky New Bradwell side.

From the moment that Chris Mason hit a post in the first minute, Kings made and missed a succession of chances.

Gary Wallace and Craig Lynskey both headed narrowly over, Jimmy Armstrong put a shot just wide and Sam Warrell’s effort was well-saved.

As Kings’ frustration grew, their touch and passing deteriorated and the attacks began to fade out thanks to superb defensive work from New Bradwell’s Alex Stoyles and the sure handling of keeper James Howarth.

And Stoyles’ bid to be man of the match increased five minutes after half-time as he rose to head in a free-kick to put his side in front,

Kings were back on level terms 15 minutes later, though, as Jack Johnson’s run along the bye-line drew a mistimed tackle in the area – allowing Armstrong to blast home his 12th penalty of the season.

Minutes later, things got worse for the visitors when Stoyles twisted an ankle and was carried off.

Having used their substitutes, they had to battle for the last twenty minutes with ten men and looked to be holding out for a draw.

Kings were not to be denied the win, though, and Steve Noonan put the ball out to Owens, who cut in and blasted home off the legs of a defender to hand his side the win.
