Kings Langley were knocked out of the FA Vase as they failed to make their dominance pay against MSSML Premier Division side Biggleswade United.

Kings made the early running and a Gary Connolly shot was tipped over the bar, before an Evan Connolly effort was pushed round the post by Scott Waters.

It was Biggleswade who took the lead, however, as Sam Stephenson was given space on the left to beat Dan Rice with the visitors’ first real effort as the 30 minute mark approached.

Kings looked for a response and Waters was forced into action again to keep out a ferocious Sam Warrell free-kick.

Tom Carter was introduced at half-time for the injured Jack Johnson, and the super-sub delivered for the fourth time this season when he fired home Evan Connolly’s cross-field pass.

It was the culmination of 20 minutes of total Kings pressure, but instead of forcing home the advantage, they allowed United off the ropes and Martin Russell forced the ball in off the post to regain United’s lead.

As Kings chased a second equaliser, Sean Murray beat an exposed Rice to a 50-50 ball in the last minute of normal time to wrap up the win for the visitors.

Possession and chances created went to Kings, but United made the most of their few chances to take the spoils.
