Corries put a torrid few weeks behind them thanks in no small part to an outstanding contribution from 16-year-old Levi Yearwood.

Tring came into the game on the back of three straight defeats, but James Haggarty nearly put them in front as he ran from deep, only to see the keeper save well.

The scores were locked at 0-0 at half-time, but it didn’t take long for the visitors to take the lead, as Steve Harris scored with a good finish from inside the box.

Harris had chance to make it 2-0 from the spot, only to see his penalty hit the inside of the post.

Tring keeper Shaun Parker was called upon to make a stunning save, before Yearwood secured the points as he slotted home with confidence.

Corries manager Simon Lacey said: “It’s been a difficult few weeks, as we look to rebuild and the scorelines from the last two fixtures really haven’t reflected our performances.

“Today, we looked like a side that hadn’t won for a bit, however we dug in and battled when we needed to and both May and Yearwood have added a bit of extra quality – both were outstanding.

“It felt like a corner turned today and the players deserved three points, for continuing to dig in when the chips have been down.”
