Leverstock Green suffered an injury-time defeat at Aylesbury United as goalkeeper Carl Tasker presented the hosts with a late Christmas gift.

Having led twice in the game, Green looked as though they would have to settle for a draw – but Tasker’s blunder handed the victory to Aylesbury.

The Green keeper spilled a floated free-kick, and United’s Joey Acheampong was on hand to slot home and snatch the three points for his side.

Aylesbury had started the game brightly but it was Levy who took the lead after 12 minutes.

Adam Hallissey was felled by United keeper Jack Sillitoe and the referee had no hesitation in pointing for a penalty.

That gave Max Farrelly the chance to give Levy the lead from the spot – and he made no mistake in firing home.

It did not take long for the hosts to respond, though, and they were back on level terms 11 minutes later as Marcus Sawyer headed home from a free-kick.

Both sides were creating chances in an entertaining game of football, and it was Levy who struck first after half-time to regain the lead.

Dan Griggs teed-up Paul Insley after a dynamic run, and the latter drilled home with aplomb from a tight angle.

Insley had a great chance to extend the lead with 15 minutes to go, but he fluffed his lines after racing through on goal.

And Green were made to pay for the miss soon afterwards as Acheompong fired home to restore parity.

The game looked set to end in a draw, but there was still time for Tasker to gift the hosts the winning goal in stoppage time.
