Leverstock Green have booked their place in the semi-finals of the St Mary’s Challenge Cup thanks to a 6-0 thrashing of Bovingdon.

After three games without a win, the result comes as a welcome boost for Steve Heath’s injury-hit Levy side.

A number of first team regulars were rested, but the game saw the return from injury of Mark Shadbolt and Lee Stobbs, as well as talisman Louis Austin who was playing for the first time since his knee operation seven weeks ago.

Dan Boyle played his first game since returning to the Green, and Ross Miller and Chris Cutler stepped up from the reserves.

Adam Hallissey opened the scoring after 24 minutes, and Lewis Pritchard added a second in the 41st minute.

Austin got back amongst the goals after 57 minutes, and Shadbolt got the fourth five minutes later.

A second from Pritchard after 87 minutes and a sixth from substitute Jon Davies two minutes later completed the scoring.

The victory sets up a clash with either Hemel Town or Berkhamsted in the semis.

It is back to league action for Levy on Saturday as they travel to Colney Heath.
