Hemel Rovers started their Arlon Printers West Herts Saturday League Premier Division campaign with a visit to Maple Cross and managed to grab all three points.

After conceding an early scrambled goal, Rovers turned the tables with an equally messy effort from Lee Thorne.

A draw seemed the likely outcome with the clock ticking down, until a cross by Alex McCarthy was headed home by Paul Hanafan with only five minutes left to play.

Elsewhere, Kings Sports also got a win under their belts after victory at new club AFC Finchley. The reliable Justin Caie was on hand for their goals.

It was not such good news for Tring Athletic A, however, as they went down 2-0 at Martin Baker Rovers.

Division One side Hemel Rovers Reserves, meanwhile, enjoyed a win as they beat Pitstone & Ivinghoe 4-1. Goals from Wasim Hussain, Aaron Boyer, Michael Hoare and James Trill Green did the damage.

In Division Two, it was a dismal start for Bovingdon as they were crushed 5-1 at JC United, while Division Three side Gadebridge FC went down 3-2 at Engineer Harpenden. Lewis Crowys found the net twice for Gadebridge.

There were goals galore in Division Three as Potten End edged past Gadebridge Reserves 5-4.

Hemel Shooters had an emphatic win, beating Maple Cross Reserves 5-0 – Sean Sangster, Warren Davies, Matt Goddard and Dan Howard (2) got the goals.
