It was a mixed bag of results for Dacorum’s MSSML Premier Division sides on Tuesday night as Berkhamsted recorded a win, Tring secured a draw, and Leverstock Green suffered a defeat.
It was an impressive performance from Berko, who saw off Biggleswade United 1-0, while Tring earned a point with a 2-2 draw at in-form London Colney.
Levy Green, however, were made to pay for a sloppy start as their winning run in the league came to an end with a 3-1 loss at home to Stotfold.
After Saturday’s defeat to Aylesbury United, Mick Vipond will have been pleased by the performance of his Berko side, who fully deserved their win.
Carl Tasker was untroubled in the home goal, and Berko rattled the metalwork on three occasions at the other end, with the ball rebounding to safety.
Connor Calcutt was first to strike the bar, before the Comrades took the lead in the 35th minute courtesy of a quick free-kick from Bekim Culaj.
Lawrence Bunker rattled the crossbar with a header, and Calcutt hit the woodwork for a second time, as Berko dominated the rest of the game to secure the deserved three points.
Tring, meanwhile, delivered a battling display to come away with a draw at London Colney, who have started the season strongly.
Athletic bounced back from conceding a goal in the 17th minute with a superb equaliser from Andy Humphreys on the half-hour mark.
A goal from Matt Jarvis gave Tring a deserved 2-1 lead at half-time, but the home side drew level after the break to take a share of the points.
Elsewhere, two goals in the first 12 minutes put paid to Levy Green’s chances against Stotfold. Paul Garrett struck for Stotfold in the seventh and 12th minutes, and Harry Holland made it 3-0 shortly before half-time.
Levy improved after the break and pulled a goal back through debutante Adrian Costa, but it was too little, too late.
