A wonderful game of football which Raiders won in the dying moments. Chipperfield went ahead midway through the first half. west herts u14s league

Result:

comets 1 st albans 1

Details:

With a point needed to become league champions Comets started with a sense of trepidation.St albans pressed and got a deserved goal. All this did was inspire Comets to press and Mitchel Cole scored a pearler of a inswinging shot. The second half was dominated by Comets but they just couldnt score to settle the game. There was always the worry St albans could score on the break but the defence has the best league record and stood firm.Credit to all the boys for a strong campaign and they are deserved champions and still have two cup finals to come.Credit must also go to Paul Bagley and Keith Axeford the managers who have never lost faith in the team. They have taken a side who were languishing near the bottom two years ago and turned their fortunes around with hard work and trust in the boys and now have been duly rewarded.I always try to be fair and objective but i have to say this is the nicest group of boys and parents i have ever been involved with.well done to all concerned.

Message: West Herts U14 Division 2

Acorn Raiders made very hard work of this win as they struggled to overcome a very resolute Harpenden team. Injuries and absentees left Acorn with only 11 players today but they battled through the game and rode their luck but a solitary goal from RICHARD ASIMBA put Acorn back on top of the table with 1 game to go. SCOTT BULLOCK was Acorns M.O.M. as he made some vital saves when we were under pressure. Unfortunately Acorns finishing was not up to scratch as they missed many one on ones that could have made this game so much easier but the fighting spirit showed and well done for the effort and determination shown from the boys who played so valliantly. Thank You
