TRING Athletic suffered their third successive pre-season defeat as they went down 1-0 at home to Ryman Premier Division side Wealdstone.
Despite the loss, there were some encouraging signs for new Tring boss Julian Robinson, particularly during the first 45 minutes.
Athletic dominated proceedings before half-time – against a side two levels above them in the football pyramid.
However, the second half saw a swing in momentum, with Wealdstone dictating the play, and netting the winner after 69 minutes.
Tring started the game brightly, and Sam Mitchell, Stewart King and Darren Franklin all had chances to open the scoring.
Athletic would have been slightly disappointed not to have taken an advantage into the interval, and Wealdstone made them pay for this after the break.
The visitors began to press with growing intensity, and the breakthrough finally came courtesy of a scrappy goal from Kurtney Brooks.
Both sides made substitutions as the game wore on, but there were no further goals and Wealdstone held on for the deserved victory.
