Hemel Town have a second chance to notch their first ever home points in the Conference South when they take on Whitehawk at Vauxhall Road on Saturday.

The Tudors started with a bang at Basingstoke, but Tuesday’s home clash with Boreham Wood was their first taste of the quality to be found in their new division, as they were thumped 6-0.

There should be no such gulf in class this time around, as Hemel entertain Whitehawk – one of five sides in the division to have been beaten in both their opening games.

The Hawks were edged out 2-1 by Staines on the opening day but, like the Tudors, suffered a heavy midweek defeat as Bromley brushed them aside 4-1.

Both teams will be eager to bounce back, but if the hosts are to take their first Conference South points at Vauxhall Road, they may have to do it without influential defender Keiran Murphy, who was forced off injured on Tuesday night.

Whatever shape the Tudors’ back-line eventually takes, the defence will be tested – with the Hawks’ attacking options boasting plenty of football league experience.

Jake Robinson has scored goals in Leagues One and Two, while Sergio Torres, Sam Deering and Matthew Barnes-Homer have all played at that level.

Saturday’s game kicks-off at 3pm.
