Leverstock Green Ladies Whites kept up the title chase with a convincing 6-2 victory over Sherrardswood Ladies.
On a perfect night for football, under the floodlights of Pancake Lane, Levy Whites started brightly and took the lead on 12 minutes when Anna Novelli pounced on the loose ball after a goalmouth scramble to poke the ball home.
The lead was short-lived, however, and within a minute Sherrardswood equalised with a thunderous shot from all of 30 yards into the roof of the net.
Worse was to come when the away side took the lead just three minutes later from a free-kick from the left hand edge of the penalty area.
The Whites didn’t panic and always looked the quicker of the two teams, Good two-touch football opened up the game down both flanks with Frankie Novelli and Ellen Salter stretching their legs and utilising the pace of Natasha Sherriff up front, who was simply on fire.
Sherriff had the best 45 minutes of her season, scoring a fine solo goal to draw the teams level after 22 minutes before giving the Whites the lead eight minutes later after a great lay off from Pru Squires-Adams.
Seconds after the restart, Sherriff hit a thunderbolt for a superb first half hat-trick.
The second half was another open, attractive 45 minutes of football played in the right spirit and when Anna Novelli fired home after 53 minutes the result was assured.
The icing on the cake came with six minutes remaining when Ellen Salter burst down the left hand flank before firing a cross into the box which Ellie Pickard swept home with a sublime first time effort for a 6-2 win.
Sherriff was named player of the match for her fantastic hat-trick and completing her first 90 minutes of football since her school days.
The win reduces the gap at the top to just seven points with the Whites having three games in hand and the title dreams are still alive.
