Watford Ladies’ excellent form continued as they overcame a resilient Cardiff City Ladies side at the International Athletics Stadium.

The Golden Girls had to bounce back from a below-par first half display to earn the three points with second half goals from Sarah Wiltshire and Jo Wilson.

It made it ten matches unbeaten for Watford and lifted them into second place in the league table on goal difference.

Manager John Salomon said: “I’m absolutely delighted with the victory today. Cardiff are a very physical, hard working side and we knew we’d need to be at our best to edge it.

“Our second half display was full of passion and desire – we wanted it so much and earned our reward.

“Again, the players and staff have done themselves proud and to be sitting second in the Prem is great recognition of the hunger everyone here has for success.”
