Tring Athletic battled back from a goal behind to beat ten-man Stotfold 2-1 and complete a league double over their opponents.

Tring were facing an uphill task after Adam Toone’s clearance fell to Nyasha Sagwete who fired past Liam Watson after 10 minutes.

Sagwete came close again but was denied by a good save from Watson, while Tring were denied what looked to be a clear penalty at the other end when Chris Vardy was brought down from behind.

Athletic won their first corner after 36 minutes and it led to the equaliser as Jack Seaton was felled in the area – resulting in a penalty and a red card for Stotfold defender Matt Clark.

Trevor Gibbs stepped up to fire home from the spot and level things up.

The second half was a scrappy affair, but Tring earned the points when Vardy was pulled down in the area, and Gibbs slotted home his second penalty of the day.
