Tring Athletic did little to warm the hearts of the home faithful as they put in a disappointing display against Biggleswade in chilly conditions on Saturday.

In a game which lacked quality, the visitors made the most of the limited goalscoring chances to earn the win.

The deciding goal came in the 26th minute when Athletic carelessly lost possession, before the ball was played to Robbie Freeman who fired low under keeper Mike Underwood.

Athletic were working hard but lacking their usual creativity, although they did create a decent opening in the 31st minute when a sweeping move led to a shot from Tony Fields which forced a good save from the Biggleswade keeper.

Athletic started the second half strongly but were not creating much in the Biggleswade penalty area.

The home side’s best chance arrived in the 68th minute when Graham Hall’s cross was not properly cleared, allowing Jack Sunderland to strike his shot against the post.

The ball was retrieved and played out to Paul Jeffrey, and his cross found Reon Thomas unmarked at the far post but his effort went just wide.

Vinnie Iannone then saw a near post header cleared off the line, but Biggleswade held on for the win.
