Tring Athletic delivered an excellent display to record a thumping 4-0 victory over Hillingdon Borough in the SSML Premier Division.

Athletic battled hard and came out on top against a resolute Hillingdon side with goals by Vinnie Iannone, Kieron Turner, Stewart King and Taylor Collins.

Although Athletic nearly scored in the first minute, it was Hillingdon who had the better of the first 10 minutes – with Tring keeper Jack Hopwood called into action after five minutes to palm away a shot from Roy Byron.

Athletic then moved up a gear and Turner had three shots that just cleared the goal, while Iannone saw a header saved by visiting keeper Alex Marginean following a good run by Collins.

Tring finally got their reward for all the hard work after 32 minutes when Rob Tomlin won the ball in midfield and fed Turner, who played the ball through to striker Iannone to coolly beat the keeper at the near post.

It took Athletic just four minutes after the half-time interval to increase their lead as a quick break saw Collins pass inside for Turner, who checked to the side of a defender before firing low into the far corner.

Opportunities kept coming and Iannone hit the underside of the bar following good work by Turner, before Sam Joliffe fired the ball over the bar from the penalty spot following a foul on Iannone by Marginean.

King came on for Iannone in the 70th minute and he scored with his first touch to seal the win after being played through by Collins.

There was still time for a fourth as Athletic continued to create chances and they scored again in the 81st minute – King returning the compliment by setting up Collins to put the icing on the cake for Tring.

It was an excellent result for the home side who fully deserved the win following all their hard work and some fine football.
