Tudors are left frustrated as frost halts play
Hemel Town missed the chance to keep up their recent momentum as their clash with Stourbridge was postponed on Saturday.
Tommy Widdrington’s side were looking to make it three wins on the spin after victories over Swindon Supermarine and Beaconsfield SYCOB.
However, after consideration from Stourbridge representatives and the match officials, it was decided that the pitch was not playable due to overnight frost.
After hearing of the cancellation, manager Widdrington arranged a gentle running session for his side, who currently lie in 20th position in the Evo-Stik Southern Premier Division table.
The Tudors are eight points adrift of safety, but do have a game in hand over 18th-placed Evesham United.
And at the time the Gazette went to press, Town were preparing to welcome Evesham to Vauxhall Road for a hugely important league clash – weather permitting.
A victory would for the Tudors would cut Evesham’s advantage to five points, but a reverse result would leave things looking bleak for Hemel.
Boss Widdrington, however, has always stated his firm belief that his side are good enough to pull away from the relegation zone as the second half of the season progresses.
