Hemel Town cruised through to the quarter-finals of the Hertfordshire Senior Challenge Cup with a comfortable 4-1 victory at in-form Oxhey Jets.

MSSML Premier Division side Jets went into the game unbeaten since September 11, but a young Hemel squad was inspired by midfielder Jordan Parkes, who led the way with a hat-trick. Striker Ryan O’Toole also got his name on the scoresheet.

It is the second time in the space of four days that the Tudors have bagged four goals in a game, following on from the 4-0 thrashing of Redditch United at Vauxhall Road on Saturday.

The Tudors are sitting pretty at the top of the Evo-Stik League Southern Premier Division, and manager Dean Brennan made a number of changes to his starting line-up for Tuesday night’s cup clash. Starting for the Tudors was youngster Terrel Ashley-Miller, and he was joined in the squad by fellow Academy players Thomas Opoku and Elias Armah-Tackie, who took their places on the bench. Clearly full of confidence, the Tudors made a good start to the game and took the lead after 22 minutes when Parkes netted from 20 yards.

A second goal soon followed for Hemel when O’Toole volleyed home Ashley-Miller’s pin-point delivery, and the Tudors added a third before half-time as Parkes fired home his second of the game.

The Tudors were playing some excellent football – as they have been doing for the majority of the season since Brennan’s arrival in the summer – and it did not take long for them to add to their tally at the start of the second half.

The match referee spotted a trip in the area, and Parkes stepped up to coolly slot home the resulting penalty and complete his hat-trick.

It looked as though a rout was on the cards but, to their credit, the Jets continued to plug away and bagged a late consolation from Luke Beardsworth.
