A strong Hemel Town squad came away with a win and a clean sheet from their pre-season trip to former Southern League and Hertfordshire rivals Hitchin Town on Thursday night.
It was another good workout for the Tudors in front of a decent crowd at Top Field.
It was a close game on warm evening – with few chances at either end – but the match was settled in the second half with a strike from the edge of the box from one of the Hemel trialists.
The same player curled a shot narrowly over the bar minutes later, but apart from a few long range efforts, neither keeper was troubled.
Next up is the long trip to Hungerford Town which will bring back happy memories for the Tudors as this was where they came away with a 4-0 win and the Southern League title last season.
Tudors management duo Dean Brennan and Stuart Maynard are happy with the way things are progressing as life in the Conference South beckons.
They start the campaign on August 9, when they travel to Basingstoke Town to play at their newly sponsored Soccer AM Stadium – a game that should get some coverage on Sky’s Saturday morning show.
