A football-mad youngster will get the chance to meet one of his Chelsea FC heroes after winning a competition to be a player escort at an international match.
Sam Tout, eight, from Bennetts End, will lead out one of the Scotland players before their World Cup qualifier against Serbia at Hampden Park on September 8.
And the young Chelsea fan can not wait for the chance to meet Blues right-back Branislav Ivanovic, who will be turning out for Serbia on the night.
Sam’s dad Matt Tout, who applied for the competition on his son’s behalf, said: “Sam is very excited and Branislav Ivanovic is the one he is looking forward to meeting the most.
“I’ve tried explaining to him that 52,000 people are going to be there because it is a really important match!”
Sam and Matt will be travelling up to Scotland with Sam’s mum Alison Tout and 10-year-old sister Lauren, and the family will spend the night in a hotel.
“I’m really looking forward to it,” said Matt. “Sam will be going into the dressing room beforehand and I’m allowed to go in there with him.
“We are not allowed to get any autographs, though, because the players will be busy getting ready for the game.”
Hemel Warriors U9 player Sam will then take to the pitch, but will have to wait until nearer the time to find out which of the Scotland players he will be accompanying.
