Preparations are well under way for the Gade Valley Harriers’ second marathon training run.

The course is a 17-mile route, starting from Boxmoor Cricket Club in Hemel Hempstead on Sunday February, 23 at 9.30am and takes in the Grand Union Canal, Bulbeggars Wood, the beautiful Ashridge Estate and Potten End.

The main focus for the training runs is the Virgin London Marathon on April 13, although there are a number of other spring marathons coming up as well.

All of the Harriers training runs are fully marshalled by the club, have frequent water stops and the ever popular Jelly Baby stop to replenish blood sugar levels before that last push for home.

Once back in the clubhouse, the runners all enjoy hot chocolate, coffee or tea and a slice of cake.

As many of the Harriers are taking part in their own spring marathons, they will run the course on Saturday so they can marshall the route for the other runners on Sunday.

The training sessions cost just £5 per runner, and no pre-registration is required. There is also supervised baggage storage at the clubhouse.

The last training run, a 20 mile route, will be held on Sunday, March 23.
