NETBALL players showed they are a team off the pitch as well as on the pitch as they cleaned cars for charity.

Around 20 members of Falcons netball team, made up from players from Hemel Hempstead and Berkhamsted, raked in more than £600 on Saturday, June 4.

Player Felicity Beardshaw, who was one of the organisers, said: “It was a blazing hot day. We had lots of customers.

“I lost count of the number of cars, but we were still cleaning at 4pm.”

The club held the fun day at The George & Dragon pub in Northchurch High Street.

The event raises money for the club as well as family support charity Home-Start.

Felicity said: “It is vital for our existence.

“If we did not do fundraising off our own back we would not exist as a club.

“We are ecstatic – really pleased. We are going to keep doing these. Everyone played their part.”
