Arthur’s golden day

Three boys from Sapphire competed at the London Development Open

SAPPHIRE youngster Arthur Hardman put in a golden display at the London Development Open as he returned home with a haul of medals.

After his success at the regional qualifiers, Arthur was joined by Sapphire boys’ squad team-mates Kyle Kerr-Miller and Josh Underwood to compete against gymnasts from all over the country.

The boys were all competing in the same age groups and levels as they had done in the regional qualifier, and it was a good opportunity to see how they may fare at the national finals in May.

And the signs certainly look promising for Arthur, in particular, as he came away with four gold medals in the level 4 competition.

After being pushed all the way by his nearest competitor, Arthur dug deep to eventually finish in first place overall – by just a 0.05 point margin.

The talented youngster also won gold medals for his performance on the pommel, parallel bars and high bar.

Kyle, meanwhile, was Sapphire’s lone entrant in the Level 1 competition, and he finished in a very respectable eighth place overall against some tough competition.

Josh also put in an impressive display, finishing in sixth place overall, while taking third on the rings.
