In a big club event, 17 athletes donned their club colours to represent Gade Valley Harriers at the Wolverton 5-Mile Road Race in Milton Keynes.
An undulating, fast course with two laps around Willen Lake gave the team a chance to shine and claim some new PBs.
Battling the wind and rain, Rich Coles continued his fine form to clock a time of 28:21 (PB). Coles was followed by men’s captain Ed Price in 29:46, Steve Newing in 32:02 (PB), Anthony Willcox in 32:17 (PB), ladies’ captain Gemma Bitaraf in 32:18, Andy Norton in 32:48, Mike Birch in 35:14, Andy Cook in 35:10, Robert Bowler in 36:00, Dave Wise in 36:38, Russ Bailey in 40:59 (PB), Andy Newing in 41:41, Jaqui Sampson in 42:23 (PB), Jacki Eskdale in 45:44, Helen Cook in 48:43, Helen Heathcote in 49:02 (PB) and Luca Ramusino in 49:03 (PB).
At the parkruns this week, nine Harriers took part in two of the 5km timed runs.
In action at Gadebridge Park, GVH claimed two of the top-three places. First back for the Harriers, in second place overall, was Andy Wells in a time of 21:38, followed very closely by James Birnie in third place in 22:11.
Next home for the Harriers was Emma Nash with a new PB of 26:18, Sam Tucker in 28:06, Peter Tucker in 32:01 and Claire Newing in 37:42.
The ever popular Black Park parkrun had three GVH entrants this week, with Guy Woollett first home for the team in fourth overall place in 18:49. Woollett was closely followed by Vince Ellerby in seventh place in 19:23, while new Harriers runner Max Woollett set yet another PB of 23:40, having knocked a huge 12 minutes off his time from his first parkrun.
