Leighton win leaves Tring thirds buzzing
Tring ladies’ thirds picked up where they left off before the winter break with a 5-1 win over Leighton Buzzard.
Tring started strongly and forced a breakthrough after 10 minutes as Ruth Hart swept in an angled shot from just inside the D.
Leighton Buzzard fought back and piled on the pressure with several short corners and, despite some top tackling on the line from Holly Bilcock and Ellie Burrows, managed to force an equaliser.
Tring responded emphatically, though, and took control as Charlotte Butler fired home a hat-trick before half time.
Leighton Buzzard came out fighting after the break but Tring wrapped up the win with a goal from Daisy Goldhagen.
The Tring Supervets, however, suffered a 3-1 defeat to Surbiton.
Tring’s new attacking formation took a while to settle in and Surbiton took full advantage, scoring with a slick move from the half-way line.
Surbiton increased their lead from a short corner before Tring finally got going and reduced the advantage.
Keith Stokes drew a defender and the goalkeeper before squaring the ball to Julian Bamford who calmly swept home to make the score 2-1 at half time
Tring pressed for an equaliser after the break but they could not force home a leveller and Surbiton wrapped up the win with a third.
