A series of tough games saw the Berko representatives show some real fighting spirit at the weekend.
The men’s third team jumped two places in the league with a hard-fought win against high flying St Albans, and the ladies’ first XI showed resolve to come from behind twice to draw 2-2 against a resilient Broxbourne team.
The ladies’ seconds continued their winning ways with a hard fought 1-0 win against Rickmansworth, while the young ladies’ third team battled bravely in defeat to Shefford & Sandy.
The men’s third team knew they were in for a hard contest against a young St Albans side, but they took the lead through Paul Dubenski.
St Albans forced an equaliser, but Berko regrouped and managed to take the lead again through a goalmouth scramble that saw Matt Prowse get the ball over the line.
St Albans restored parity again after half-time, but Berko skipper Mark Robinson slammed home a rebound to regain the lead for his side, before Barron sealed the win.
The ladies’ first team, meanwhile, went behind in the first minute against Broxbourne following a short corner, but responded within two minutes through Ann Baxter.
Another short corner routine saw Broxbourne go ahead, and Berkhamsted had to dig deep to equalise once again with an excellent strike from Abi Lawlor.
Elsewhere, Sarah Filby was the match-winner for the second team against Rickmansworth, but a Sophie Beard hat-trick could not prevent the third team from slipping to an 8-3 defeat at Shefford & Sandy.
