Katie Haines was on target for the Tring ladies' second team against Letchworth.

The ladies’ first team led the way for Tring Hockey Club this weekend as they saw off St Albans 3-0.

After a goalless first half, Tring turned on the style after the break and Megan Sawh crossed for Jenny Wrench to tap home.

The hosts continued to attack and Katie Turnbull made it 2-0, before Amy Park wrapped the game up with a third.

It was not such good news for the ladies’ seconds as they lost 2-1 to Letchworth.

Letchworth took a 2-0 lead into half-time, but Tring responded well and pulled a goal back through Kaie Haines (pictured).

Elsewhere, the ladies’ third XI had a bad day at the office as they were thrashed 9-1 by top of the table West Herts.

The hosts races into a 6-0 half-time lead, but Tring showed character to bag a consolation goal through Charlotte Kearvell.

The men’s SuperVets, meanwhile, battled to a 3-2 victory over West Hampstead.

Steve Warr and Jim Watson struck in the first half to put Tring 2-0 up, before West Hampsted restored parity with two goals after half-time.

Tring were not to be denied the win, though, and Watson struck late on to go to snatch the victory for his side.

The men’s vets were the only other team to play a league game this week, but they lost 5-1 against Sunbury and Walton Hawks despite a goal from Simon Cobby.

In a friendly game, the men’s first team beat Berkhamsted 4-2 with goals from Sam Payne, Ash Tillett (2) and Matt Aikens.
