The Camelot U10 team returned from Dorset with a trophy for the cabinet after winning the Plate competition at the annual Bournemouth Rugby Festival.
They got off to a slow start in their group as they struggled to adapt to the wet and windy conditions – losing the opening two matches before recording a 3-0 win over Salisbury that earned them a place in the Plate quarter-finals against Wells City.
By now the boys were hitting form, as they rattled past Wells with a dominant 7-2 victory and a place in the semi-finals against Ellingham.
Once again, Camelot were showcasing their excellent passing game and they cruised into the final with a comfortable 5-0 win.
By the time Camelot took to the pitch for the final match they had been at the rain-drenched festival for more than seven hours.
Showing strength and maturity beyond their years, they put in an excellent performance against Fordingbridge to win the match 2-0, much to the delight of all the players and their parents on the sidelines.
