Team Northumbria 73 Hemel Storm 83
Hemel Storm made the long trip to the north east on Saturday and produced a dominant second quarter to set-up victory against Team Northumbria in a National Trophy pool game.
Storm’s Tom Adorian proved he is back to full fitness after having surgery in the summer, eventually top-scoring with 23 points from short-range jump shots and strong moves close to the basket.
“I ended up with some great scoring opportunities,” said 6ft 9ins Adorian. “But that was because we played so well together.”
Hemel responded well to head coach Steve Darlow’s insistence on making better decisions on offence and improving their defence.
Hemel had been beaten the previous week at home to Leeds when they failed to create the kind of shooting opportunities that were evident in Saturday’s much improved showing.
“It was an excellent team performance,” said a Darlow. “Especially because we worked hard together to carry over into the game what we had done in practice.
“Our movement and shooting decisions were key reasons for the win.”
Hemel fans can see Storm in action on Saturday when they take on Westminster Warriors at Sportspace, tip-off 7pm. See www.stormbasketball.net for information and tickets.
