HOCKEY: The Berkhamsted third team were held to a second rather unsatisfactory 0-0 draw in as many weeks as they took on Harpenden.
With chances at both ends, a draw was the fairest result, although Berko will see the result as a missed opportunity to claw points back on their opponents.
The draw keeps Harpenden four points ahead of Berko in the league standings.
Elsewhere, it was a disappointing week for the Berko fourth XI as they were beaten 5-2 by Stevenage V.
Berkhamsted started the game brightly and the alert Richard Peachey gave them the lead when he followed up his own shot from a short corner.
Hosts Berko continued to pile on the pressure – with Brian de Mattos and Paul Whitby both denied by good saves – but it was Stevenage who struck next to level the scores going into half-time.
The visitors came out strongly after the interval and took the lead, but Berko hit back as de Mattos laid the ball into the path of Whitby to equalise.
Stevenage then profited from a lucky break as the ball was deflected into his own net by a Berko defender, and from then on it was mainly one-way traffic.
The visitors pressed for further goals, and duly wrapped up the win with two strikes in the remaining few minutes.
