BERKHAMSTED Cricket Club have elected their captains ahead of the new cricket season, which gets under way at the start of next month.
At the club’s AGM, David Smith was named as the first XI captain and club captain, while Charlie Hussey, Peter Dudley, Mark Lewarne and Ian Putnam will skipper the second, third, fourth and Sunday sides, respectively.
The new season gets up-and-running on May 5, and Berkhamsted are inviting new members to attend their weekly practice sessions on Wednesday evenings from 6pm until dusk at Kitchener’s Field, off Castle Hill.
Anyone interested in joining the club should contact club chairman Julian Dent at email@example.com for more information.
Meanwhile, the 2012 campaign is set to be an exciting one for the junior section of the club.
Berkhamsted will field 17 representative sides from U9 through to U17 – including girls’ U11 and U13 teams – giving them the honour of boasting the largest junior section of any cricket club in Hertfordshire.
Membership of the boys’ teams at U12 and below is now full, and a waiting list is in place, however there are still places available in the older age groups and all girls teams.
Parents interested in securing a place for their child/children should contact Mark Lewarne, head of the junior section, at firstname.lastname@example.org.
