ARMY cadets from 3 Company Beds and Herts ACF held their own in the Army Cadet Force National Swimming Championships earlier this month.
Competing against fellow cadets from across the country, the side put in a tremendous display at the prestigious Royal Military Academy Sandhurst to bag gold medals in the boys’ relay, girls’ relay and girls’ breaststroke races.
There was no stopping the East District side, though, as they left everyone else in their wake take the Overall National Champions Cup 2011.
In doing so, they also scooped the boys’ junior, boys’ senior, girls’ junior and girls’ senior trophies.
The day was rounded off with a meal in the officer cadets’ mess, as well as a disco.
And the Beds and Herts army cadets are now encouraging more youngsters to get involved.
Young people aged between 12 and 18 are eligible for the cadets, who have bases in Hemel and Berkhamsted
Cadets get the chance to learn to shoot, map read, shelter build, survive in the field, experience adventure training and try new sports.
