Berkhamsted Squash Club’s Angus Gillams has returned victorious after captaining the England U19 team to success at the U19 European Championships in Helsinki.
Gillams, along with team-mates Richie Fallows and Nada Elkalaawy, beat Spain 3-0 in the final of the competition to win gold, with Spain taking silver and Hungary bagging bronze.
“It has been a really good few days in the team event and really competitive,” said Gillams. “Spain gave us a very good final with some really good matches.”
Gillams lost the final of the individual competition against Fallows – who he had previously beaten to take the UK U19 number 1 spot.
